Item Details
Compared to the millions of Winchester Model 94 made, the Model 71 was made in small quantities. Depending on the authority you check with somewhere between 47000 and 70000 thousand were made between 1938 and 1958. According to the serial number on this one is was made in 1946. It is original, beautiful and in excellent condition. It retains at least 98% sharp original Winchester polished blue on the receiver, barrel, lever and butt plate. No rust or pitting on the metal. The Winchester proofs on the receiver and barrel are sharp and crisp, as is all lettering on the barrel. The mechanical condition and the rifling in the barrel could pass for new. The stock retains much of its original finish and is in very fine to near excellent condition. No cracks or repairs, just some small spots of finish loss or small scratches or marks from use. It has its original front sight and sight hood. A sight block is in place in the rear sight dovetail. There is a period excellent condition Redfield receiver sight on the rifle. - C&R,23122, Item # 11598
